New hand-made slipcovers!
Well...They took longer and cost more to make than I anticipated, but they look great. They are on and functional (even though I still have to sew on the skirts...)This website de-mystified the process http://www.honeybearlane.com/2011/06/how-to-make-a-couch-slipcover-part-1.html with clear directions including piping and zippers and my draping class at FIT taught me some techniques on how to drape and fit the couch (I ended up using style tape to divide the chair and couch in half and created the pattern that way). Now I have custom patterns to use when I want to make new covers again.
Fabric is from House Fabric and is supposed to be from Pottery Barn www.housefabric.com
I bought new foam for the cushions on Canal St. www.canalrubber.com (the foam was $200 for a sheet and they cut it to size for me...).
Zippers are from Pacific Trimming.
Changing the slipcovers spurred us on to reconfigure the living and dining room areas. I'm definitely in the mood to continue to change up the house...
